Quoi de Neuf?
A peak into the lastest from French club world - March 2012
Film Night
You might have noticed on your Semester 1 French Collective events calendar that a film screening was planned this week for Wednesday, March 21. In honour of the Alliance Française French Film Festival, we have decided to cancelWednesday's film screening and instead attend a screening of An Amour de Jeunesse ("Goodbye First Love) at 7pm on Friday 23 March at Arc Cinema (National Film and Sound Archive) as a group. We'll meet at the cinema at around 6.30 and head to Honkytonks in Civic afterwards at around 9pm to discuss the film over drinks.
In order to whet your appetite for Friday's event, you might be interested in reading this article from the Canberra Times on the importance of film to French identity: http://www.canberratimes.com.au/entertainment/cinema-part-of-french-lifeblood-20120313-1uy5w.html Wine & Cheese Night WonderA big thank you to the 80-or-so of you who attended our Wine & Cheese Night last Tuesday.
Whether you were brave and tried the Tarago River Blue Orchid, played it safe and went for the salty Jensen's Red, or went all out on the Triple Cream, we hope you enjoyed what was on offer. On that note, thank you to event sponsor Mr Cheese, clearly a purveyor of very fine dairy. We'd also like to thank our other event sponsors Eden Road Wines and TheGlass.com.au, whose delights complemented the cheese perfectly and ensured that it was a merry occasion for all. If you would like to relive the experience, photos from the night have been uploaded to our Facebook group here, and our website here. Accommodation SearchWe have been contacted by a lovely Frenchman named Lukas Roger who is searching for a share house to live in between 1 April and 31 August, or thereabouts, while he visits/ studies in Canberra. If you or anyone you know could help him out, please send him an email at [email protected].
He also mentioned the possibility of a house swap over the same period if anyone is heading over to Paris at that time, as his apartment in the Paris area will be empty. |

The Alliance Française French Film Festival will hit Canberra 14 March to 1 April. Check out the schedule and other details here. If your friends don't speak French and don't like subtitles (quel dommage!), send us an email or post a message on our Facebook group and we'll try to organise a field trip. Cultured fun!
